‘It’s been breaking down the last couple of months’: Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are reportedly ‘done’

Orlando Bloom could turn into "the one that got away."

Perry closed out last year with a poorly received album, and just when it seemed like the only way for her in 2025 was up — I mean, she literally went up to space — reality seems to have had a much lower ceiling. People found a source willing to shed light on the current dynamic between the famous couple. According to the source, the relationship is “pretty much done.”

The source made it clear this isn’t a recent development caused by a single grave mistake from the Pirates of the Caribbean star or vice versa. Instead, the issues have reportedly been brewing quietly in the background. “(They) don’t really see them being able to turn things around here,” the source said. “It’s been breaking down the last couple of months and isn’t looking good.”

So how did they get here? Well, the album flop certainly didn’t help. Titled 143, the album reportedly introduced a kind of “pressure” that hadn’t existed in their relationship before. Additionally, that follow-up tour for the album and is reportedly pouring everything into it. She’s said to be happy with the sold-out shows and fully focused on staging a comeback.

It hasn’t helped that Perry’s relationship with her fans has been especially contentious lately, with frequent online criticism. Managing that while raising a child on tour could leave anyone drained, with little energy left for anything else.

In a February interview, Perry spoke about avoiding the internet — especially the comment sections — so it’s safe to say these reports may not shake her. And just recently, in May, she name-dropped Orlando Bloom during a performance, warning fans to stop “DMing my man.” She added jokingly, “I’m going to have you removed. Seriously, get your own life.” That’s fairly recent, so it’s not entirely set in stone that the two won’t find their way back to each other.

As for where things stand now, though, the outlook appears bleak. People often underestimate how grueling a world tour can be — a different city every other night for nine months, shifting time zones, constant rehearsals. Add to that Bloom’s own active career, and the strain becomes apparent. Artists often come out of tours either burned out or divorced. It’s practically standard procedure.

The couple got engaged in 2019, and their reps haven’t responded to questions about the current state of their relationship. The reports, however, paint a clear picture of a couple facing a stage in their careers that demands just as much — if not more — effort than the beginning: the comeback. Many artists survive career slumps. Very few relationships do.
